So how do you respond when a new perspective wants to “see what ya got?” in terms of your training abilities? That’s a trick question! Remember, YOU interview you clients to see if they are a good fit for you, not the other way around. Qualify ALL of your potential clients to minimize all that non-sense. Here’s the thing – you better be able to bring it! I don’t mean showing off how exhausted you tire them out by doing 500 burpies on their first day. That’s just wrong.
Let’s have another approach:
- Get their entire history from childhood. Where they grew up, etc.
- Ask them about their experience with other trainers and what they liked or did not like.
- Find out their medical and exercise history.
- What are doing the other 23 hours in the day?
You will know all of this prior to ANY prospect walking in your door. No one is getting grilled here – your time is valuable and so is theirs. Let them know that. You may or may not be the right trainer and they may or may not be the right client.
